Anthropology & Aging welcomes new editorial team members!

We are excited to announce some exciting changes to the editorial team at Anthropology & Aging.

Manonita Ghosh – Editor-in-Chief

Dr Ghosh is a Research Fellow at the Social Ageing (SAGE) Futures Lab within the School of Arts and Humanities at Edith Cowan University (Perth, Australia). She specializes in mixed-methods co-design research, encompassing qualitative, quantitative, data linkage, systematic review, and Delphi methodologies. Her research concentrates on the impact of culture on health behavior, aging, health-services research, and the intersection of music and health. Dr. Ghosh will be responsible for developing and promoting the journal’s mission and aims. She will also direct the overall operations of the journal work, and liaise with both AAGE leadership and A&A’s Editorial Advisory Board.

 

Magdalena Zegarra Chiappori – Associate Editor

Dr Zegarra Chiappori holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). Based in Peru, she is a medical anthropologist with research interests in economies of care, old age, intimacy and affect theory, social abandonment, death, marginalized communities, and Latin American studies. As Associate Editor, she will be responsible for evaluating and reviewing all manuscripts submitted to the journal, then working closely with both authors and reviewers as the manuscripts progress through the production cycle.

 

Meghánn Ward – Associate Editor

Dr Ward is an interdisciplinary gerontologist who specializes in dementia, well-being, arts engagement, and human/health geography. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Health and Society Knowledge Exchange (HASKE) team at the University of Cumbria, England, where she conducts health and social care service evaluations for local organizations, mental-health services, and national health providers. As Associate Editor, she will be responsible for evaluating and reviewing all manuscripts submitted to the journal, then working closely with both authors and reviewers as the manuscripts progress through the production cycle.

 

Joining the A&A team to work with Christine Verbruggen, Senior Section Editor – Book Reviews, Portfolio, and Debate are:

  • Anjana John, a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology at Central European University (Vienna, Austria), will be the Section Editor, Portfolio & Commentary
  • Shriya Thakkar, a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology, at Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge, LA), will be the Section Editor, Book & Multimedia Reviews

 

We would also like to welcome three new editorial assistants who will be working with Yvonne Wallace, Assistant Editor – Copy Editing and Production:

  • Madison Clayton, a Bachelor’s student in Anthropology at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA)
  • Kayla McManus, a Master's alumni Anthropology at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA)
  • Amara Wristen, a Master’s student in Anthropology at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada)

Madison, Kayla, and Amara will be responsible for copy-editing original research articles, research reports, and other sections of the journal. They will also assist with promotions/outreach, website updates and design, and database corrections.
